Happy Birthday Extension ("we," "us," or "our") is operated by Digital ADgency. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use our website (happybirthdayextension.com) and our Chrome extension, how we use it, and the choices you have.
By using the extension or the website, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Account information
When you sign up, we collect your email address and authentication credentials. These are stored securely in our backend (Supabase) and used to manage your account, send you transactional and marketing emails, and verify your subscription status.
Payment information
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full payment card details. Stripe provides us with billing status, plan type, and the email associated with your purchase. For full details, see Stripe's Privacy Policy.
Facebook data accessed by the extension
The extension reads publicly visible information from your own Facebook account — specifically, the list of friends whose birthdays Facebook displays to you and the names associated with those birthdays. This information is used solely to post birthday messages on your behalf. It is processed locally in your browser and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
We do not collect, sell, or share your friend list or any other Facebook data with third parties.
Usage analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 and the Meta (Facebook) Pixel on our website to understand how visitors find and use the site. These tools may collect your IP address, browser type, pages visited, and similar information. They do not collect your name, email, or any Facebook data accessed by the extension.
Email marketing
Your email address is added to our email marketing platform (Brevo) when you sign up or purchase. We use this to send onboarding emails, product updates, and occasional promotional messages. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email.
How We Use Your Information
- To operate the extension and post birthday messages on your behalf
- To manage your account, subscription, and billing
- To send transactional emails (welcome, receipts, password resets, cancellation confirmations)
- To send marketing emails about new features, tips, and offers (you can opt out anytime)
- To analyze website traffic and improve our service
- To respond to support requests
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers needed to operate the extension and the website:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Supabase — secure database and authentication hosting
- Brevo — email delivery
- Resend — transactional email delivery
- Google Analytics — anonymous usage analytics
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — anonymous advertising analytics
- Netlify — website hosting
Each of these providers has its own privacy practices. We've chosen them because they meet industry standards for data protection.
We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or to protect our legal rights.
Your Choices
Email opt-out
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link. Click it to stop receiving promotional emails. Transactional emails (receipts, password resets, etc.) will continue as needed to operate your account.
Account deletion
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing support@happybirthdayextension.com. We will delete your data within a reasonable time, except where retention is required by law (for example, transaction records for tax purposes).
Cookies
Our website uses cookies for analytics and advertising. Most browsers allow you to refuse cookies or alert you when cookies are being sent. If you disable cookies, some features of the site may not function properly.
Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information. All data transmitted between your browser and our servers is encrypted via HTTPS. Account data is stored in Supabase with Row Level Security enabled, meaning your data is only accessible to you and to authorized administrative processes. No system is perfectly secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Happy Birthday Extension is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it.
International Users
Our service is operated from the United States. If you access the service from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S., where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
California and EU Users
Residents of California (under CCPA) and the European Union (under GDPR) have additional rights, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port their personal data, and the right to opt out of certain data uses. To exercise any of these rights, email support@happybirthdayextension.com.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we'll change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Material changes will be communicated by email or a notice on the website.
